Nashville, TN (January 14, 2021) –Tennessee-based race management companies Above The Fold Events & Sport Promotions and Team Magic today announced the merger of their companies effective January 14, 2021.

Team Magic, founded in the late 1980s and now one of the nation’s largest full-service race management companies, will add to its portfolio the races and events from Above The Fold and will become the race brand moving forward for all Above The Fold races. Team Magic will now own and produce the largest short course triathlons in Tennessee, Alabama and Kentucky.

Above The Fold and Team Magic, in addition to the race management merger, have restructured as a holding company for its various service lines and business interests, which also includes running tours (Running Tours USA), endurance sports coaching (ATF Legion), and tennis event production.

“This is a partnership that truly makes sense,” said Faye Yates, co-owner of Team Magic with partner Therese Bynum, who retired at the end of last year. “The vision Joe (Fleenor) brings coupled with the turnkey, successful events he and his team produce made this opportunity an exciting and easy decision. Team Magic has had tremendous success these last three decades, thanks in large part to Therese and her leadership, and we believe we haven’t even scratched the surface yet. The possibilities are endless with this merger.”

“We are very excited about the future,” said Fleenor, founder of ATF. “Our goal has been, and will continue to be, delivering the best experience for our customers at our events and we believe this new alignment with Team Magic further strengthens that mission and provides us the ability to maximize our resources and talents to improve efficiencies, expand offerings, and reach a larger audience. When it comes to race production, Team Magic is the standard bearer.”

Joe Fleenor and Faye Yates are shareholders in the new venture, with Fleenor serving as Chief Growth Officer, overseeing all growth initiatives, and Yates serving as Chief Operations Officer, overseeing race operations.
